Description

This Iced Banana Matcha Latte is a delicious, 3-ingredient energy boost. This blended green tea latte recipe is naturally sweetened.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 to 1 Teaspoon Matcha Powder, to Taste (see Note 1)
  • 1 Medium Banana, Frozen (see Note 2)
  • 1.5 cups Non-Dairy Milk of Choice (see Note 3)
  • 1 Pitted Medjool Date, Optional (see Note 4)

Instructions

  1. Add the ingredients to the blender: Add the non-dairy milk, matcha, frozen banana (break it into chunks if it isn't already), and pitted medjool date (if using, or sweetener of choice).
  2. Blend until smooth: Blend until fully smooth. It may take a minute or two depending on the strength of your blender.
  3. Taste test: Taste it and adjust if needed. Not sweet enough? Add another date or a little sweetener of choice. If using maple syrup, we use about 1-2 tablespoon per serving but the right amount for us is not necessarily the right amount for you. Not enough banana flavor? Try adding a couple of banana slices extra. Too thick? Add a small amount of plant milk.
  4. Serve: Enjoy immediately! Feel free to top with our vegan cold foam or whatever else you like.

Notes

  • Note 1: If you are newer to matcha, you may want to start off with a half teaspoon, but usually we do about a teaspoon per serving.
  • Note 2: We prefer to use frozen overripe bananas (spotty bananas) because they have a better banana flavor and more sweetness. If your bananas aren't frozen you can still use them, and maybe add in a handful or two of ice cubes!
  • Note 3: Almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk, etc. are all great here, just use your favorite or whatever you have on hand! We usually use shelf stable soy milk because it has a nice amount of protein and we buy them a box at a time and they last a long time until we need to open them. We also make soy milk yogurt out of them!
  • Note 4: This is to add a little more sweetness but it isn't necessary. Feel free to add pure maple syrup or your favorite liquid sweetener too.
  • Note 5: A sprinkle of cinnamon (or extra cinnamon if you like that a lot), a splash of vanilla extract (this makes it taste like a banana bread matcha latte!), a tiny pinch of salt, protein powder, or a little bit of coconut cream are lovely additions to this delicious latte.
