Pumpkin Spice Creamer is the ultimate fall recipe for your morning coffee. Just put everything into a blender and it will be ready in under 5 minutes. With plant-based simple ingredients, this recipe will be one of your favorite things this fall!

Hey Internet, ready to make some homemade pumpkin spice coffee creamer? It's September when we're writing this, so it's time for pumpkin flavored everything! If you're a pumpkin spice lover, you've got to try this easy recipe. It's rich and warm and great in both hot and iced coffee.

We've been on a bit of a coffee streak recently when it comes to what we're cooking up. Our Vanilla Vegan Cold Foam Recipe, Tiramisu Chia Pudding, and Protein Coffee Shake Recipes are just a few the coffee recipes we've made recently. It's a little bit to do with how tired we've been recently due to school, work, and all the things. But what can you do, but have more coffee?

If you love pumpkin spice lattes from your local coffee shop, you're going to love this easy and simple homemade vegan creamer. This time of year, nothing beats a classic pumpkin spice latte, and making it at home is next level! We'll use real pumpkin puree, a natural sweetener (feel free to use more or less to control the sugar content), and only a few other ingredients to make the perfect homemade pumpkin creamer.

Not to mention, making your own creamer is so cheap when it's plant-based! Just use a few shelf stable ingredients, and you'll enough pumpkin creamer for days. No artificial flavors that way; we use natural ingredients. And all you need is a high speed blender to make it! So let's get our coffee tasting like pumpkin spice season!

Why You'll Love Making Your Own Pumpkin Spice Creamer

  • Easy Ingredients List: With only 6 ingredients, you might already have everything you need in your house to make this homemade coffee creamer recipe. We've also got some great substitutions below that are easy replacements for anything you're missing.
  • Super Fast: It takes 5 minutes or less to take these ingredients and blend them to a creamer consistency with a fraction of the grams of sugar you might find in a coffee shop latte but ALL of the pumpkin flavor.
  • No Cooking: All you need is a blender! No heating up the house to make your drinks burst with fall flavor.

Ingredients

Pick up the following simple ingredients for the best pumpkin spice creamer the next time you're at a grocery store. See the recipe card at the bottom of this post for full ingredients, instructions, and accurate nutrition information (to the best of my ability; please consult your physician, registered dietitian, or healthcare professional if you have specific dietary needs or need to meet certain daily values of any nutrient). I give substitutions for the ingredients in the section below this one, so most people can still make this recipe!

  • ¾-7/8 Cup Puréed Pumpkin
  • 2 Cups Water
  • ¼ cup Pure Maple Syrup: Note that this recipe isn't SUPER sweet, as it it's meant to be a creamer, not a sugar replacement for your coffee. Please use the maple syrup to taste and you can use more or less to modify your sugar intake. You can of course still add as much or as little sweetener to your homemade lattes, which is one of the reasons why making fancy coffee drinks at home is a great way to get healthier AND cheaper beverages.
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼-1/3 Cup Raw Cashews
  • ¼ Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice

Substitutions

  • Water: If you want even creamier creamer, consider replacing the water with nondairy milks. Oat milk, almond milk, and cashew milk are all great to use. 
  • Raw Cashews: To make this recipe nut-free, feel free to use hemp hearts or raw sunflower seeds. In a pinch, you can use any nut or seed butter that you like! This is especially helpful if you don't have a high powered blender. You could even try using coconut cream or coconut milk, which could give more of a heavy cream consistency.
  • Maple Syrup: Agave will work in a pinch. If you need to use a granulated sugar, you'll need to turn it into a simple syrup first. Sugar will not dissolve properly without heat.
  • Pumpkin Puree: If you don't have actual pumpkin puree, a pumpkin pie filling mix can work as a substitute. It does have added sugars in it, so you may need to adjust the sweetness. Add the maple syrup a little at a time to get things right. You may want to skip adding any pumpkin pie spice as well. 

How to Make This Delicious Pumpkin Spice Creamer

  1. Note: If you do not have a high speed blender like a Vitamix, I highly recommend soaking the raw cashews in just-boiled water for 10-40 minutes before blending (pour off the water before adding to your blender with the rest of the ingredients). Alternatively, use canned coconut milk INSTEAD of the raw cashews, and either reduce the water or use all coconut milk depending on your preferences. Another option is to blend water with ⅓ - ½ cup nut or seed butter, but keep in mind these will have more flavor than raw cashews. Almond butter could be quite delicious with the pumpkin flavor!
  2. Blend: Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender. You want to add the cashews first. Having everything else on top of them will help prevent the cashew chunks from flying around during the blending. This will help make sure they get blended! Blend for 1 minute. Scrape down the sides and then blend for 30 second more or until mixture is smooth
  3. Store: Add contents to a mason jar with a lid or similar container. Use now or refrigerate until chilled. Enjoy within 4-5 days of blending. Note that if you can't finish it in time, you could blend it up with a banana or something to make a lovely smoothie.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a blender, but not a high speed blender. Can I still do this recipe?

Yes, but you'll need to prepare your cashews ahead of time. Either you need to soak them overnight in the fridge or you need to soak them in a bowl of hot water. With the latter method, we like to cover the bowl with a plate and let them soak for 10 to 20 minutes. 

It's not very sweet?

We designed this recipe to act solely as a creamer. Most creamers are not super sweet. This lets you modify your coffee to whatever sweetness you want. It's easier to add more sugar than to remove it!

How long will will this creamer last? 

It should last at least 5 days in the fridge.

Could I make a smaller batch?

Yes, but you might need a smaller blender, like a bullet blender. In large blenders, small batches might be harder to blend.

  • Note 3: If you want to make smaller batch, use a smaller blender, like a bullet blender. In large blenders, small batches might not even reach the blades.
  • Note 4: Store bought creamers use gums and thickeners to discourage separation, but separation is totally natural and fine, especially considering our recipe doesn't use such additives, it will separate. Just shake up the jar before serving!
