Aside from holiday foods I also like to create holiday drinks to get me in the spirit! I’ve been loving making my own nut and seed milks and I was looking for some ways to spice them up, and stumbled upon the idea of a Creamsicle Mocktail.

A Mocktail is just a Cocktail without liquor. Regardless of whether you drink alcohol, sometimes you just feel like a fancy drink. I personally do not like to drink alcohol because it makes me feel sick.

However, Mr. Zardyplants will occasionally drink and it’s fine with me if other people like to. Please feel free to add liquor to this recipe and make it a proper cocktail!

The great thing about Mocktails is you can easily make a big batch of them, and separate out versions for kids and for adults if they feel like indulging in liquor.

So What’s in This Thing?

The base for this drink is hemp seed milk (which I tell you how to make from scratch), but feel free to sub any nut or seed milk you like. Even oat milk would be delicious with this!

Hemp seed milk is one of the easiest nut or seed milks to make because it doesn’t require any straining. All you do is blend one part hulled hemp seeds with 4 parts water. That’s it!

Hemp seeds are PACKED with essential fatty acids including omega 3, omega 6, and GLA. They are also high in protein and vitamin E. They are truly a super food.

Dates are the only sweetener in this recipe. The date taste goes very well with the rest of the flavor profile, but you can use other sweeteners instead such as maple syrup, sugar, or Stevia.

The spices and vanilla extract really make this feel appropriate for the holidays. I added generous dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg, which add a nice warm taste to this drink.

I added a few tablespoons of orange juice to the mix itself, and then more orange juice when serving. The result is a delicious drink with a flavor that’s very reminiscent of creamsicles!

These Mocktails are delicious served hot or cold, and garnished with an orange wedge. Let’s get blending!

As always, let me know if you make this recipe and please tag #Zardyplants and mention me @Zardyplants so I can see your beautiful recreations! If you tag me on IG, I will share your post in my stories :)
