Hey Internet, if you're reading this, it's likely peach season! Peaches have a unique tanginess to them but are super sweet and juicy. They're great on their own but even better on dessert plates.
We used peaches in our Vegan Dutch Baby and just the other day we made Peach Chia Pudding. Both are so good! You could also make a peach cobbler easy peasy! It would also be great with our homemade soy yogurt.
Today, we're going to make a super easy topping with our peach slices. With simple ingredients, this 3-ingredient recipe only takes about 10 minutes to make. Soon you'll have a topping for your ice cream for an easy dessert, or the start of a delicious peach pie filling!

Ingredients
Pick up these simple ingredients the next time you're at a grocery store. See the recipe card at the bottom of this post for full ingredients, instructions, and accurate nutritional information (to the best of my ability; please consult your physician or healthcare professional if you have specific dietary needs). I give substitutions for the ingredients in the section below this one, so most people can still make this recipe!
- 2 Ripe Peaches: You want a little give to the fruit when you squeeze them. Overripe and underripe peaches are no good!
- 2-4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar: Adjust the amount of sugar to get the caramel sauce to the right sweetness that you desire.
- 2 Tablespoons Filtered Water
Substitutions
- Peaches: You can used canned peaches if they are out of season. Not as good as fresh peaches, but don't let that stop you!
- Brown Sugar: We've tried this recipe with white sugar and it worked just as well. The only difference was the end product was a little lighter in color. Coconut sugar will also work for this recipe and is a nice unrefined option.
- Addition; Vegan Butter: A little bit of unsalted butter (dairy-free), about a tablespoon will make for a richer set of peaches. Add it to the cooking down part of this recipe. When you melt butter into the peaches, they become richer. This makes for a more cozy feeling dessert that has more depth of flavor.
How to Make Caramelized Peaches
- Cut your Peaches in Half: Cut along the crease, or suture, of the peach. You want to rotate the peach so the blade of your knife goes around the pit. Twist the peach halves to separate them. One side will have the pit in it still. Gently remove it with your hands or a spoon.
- Slice the Peach Halves: Use your knife to thinly slice each peach half.
- Heat your Skillet: Get a large skillet and set it to medium heat. Wait until the pan is warm.
- Cook your Peaches: Add the peach slices to your skillet, making sure to add them in a single layer. Try to give each slice enough space to help prevent them from sticking together.
- Add the Other Ingredients: Add the brown sugar and the splash of water to your skillet peaches. Gently stir with a thin spatula to reduce the chance of breaking the peaches.
- Cook Down: Cook the peach mixture in the frying pan for about 4 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently. You want the peaches to become soft and the sugar water to have become a thick syrup.
- Serve: Add the peaches to a dessert, a bowl of ice cream, or let them cool in the refrigerator.
Storage Instructions
Place the caramelized peaches in an open airtight container and let them cook for about 30 minute on a counter. Seal them afterwards and store in them in a refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.
